I pole dance for recreation (not employment) and I bought these shoes for pole class. They're comfortable and sturdy to walk in. Plus the ribbon detail on the back adds a unique touch. BTW when I say "comfortable" I mean for dancing in for a few songs not for walking about the town. They're almost 6 inches for crying out loud! If you're buying them for pole, IMO they don't aid in climbing (I'm a good climber though), but they do make your legs look great. Bottom line, you won't be disappointed!
